How can a MacBook "die" without being spilled on?
The client didn't spill anything on the laptop. She took it on holiday, to a tropical area with very high humidity. It was perfectly functional before leaving; back home, it wouldn't turn on.
The explanation is technical, not bad luck: high humidity creates condensation inside the chassis. That condensed moisture doesn't have to look like a "spill" — a thin film is enough. Over time, electrolytic corrosion forms between the power lines on the board: micro-shorts and deposits that eventually take a component out of service. Here, a single chip failed — and without it, the laptop wouldn't power on.

The road to us: 3 stops and a 9,800 lei quote
After paying over 3,000 euro for the laptop, the client first went to the official reseller. The answer: 9,800 lei to replace the logic board. Understandably, she was outraged — that's nearly half the price of a new laptop, for a whole board swapped out.
She then searched online. The first result promised "we've repaired MacBooks for 50 years". She left the laptop there and waited three weeks with no reply at all, until she picked it up untouched. She tried a neighbourhood shop next, where they kept it two days and declared it "unrepairable" on the spot.
She found us in a discussion on a Facebook group — not through the 1,000+ Google reviews, but through a recommendation from someone who had been through the same thing.
An honest note: a marketing line like "50 years of experience" says nothing about the outcome. What matters is the real track record — verifiable reviews, concrete cases, and how quickly they get back to you. A line on a website doesn't repair a logic board.
What we found: a chip the size of a grain of sand
The good part: the board had not been tampered with by anyone before — a big stroke of luck, because a botched intervention would have complicated everything. With experience and lab-grade equipment, we identified the fault within a few hours: a single chip attacked by condensation, with corrosion visible only under the microscope.
This is where experience makes the difference: without knowing exactly what you're looking for, you could spend weeks under the microscope checking every chip on the board and still miss it. Its size and the tiny mark that betrayed it are almost impossible to catch any other way.
The repair: component replaced, not board swapped
Once identified, the rest was straightforward: we replaced the faulty chip by microsoldering and tested the board under load. That's it. No new 9,800 lei board — just the failing component, swapped at component level. That's exactly what our MacBook repair service does: we replace only what's faulty, not the whole board.
